Can foreigners open a stock trading account in Vietnam?

Yes. Foreign individuals need a valid passport and a securities trading code from the Vietnam Securities Depository and Clearing Corporation, which the broker applies for on your behalf. Most brokers require an in-person or notarised document step for foreigners rather than the fully online eKYC used for Vietnamese citizens.

What else do I pay besides the broker's fee?

Personal income tax of 0.1% on the value of every sale, custody of VND 0.27 per share per month under Circular 101/2021/TT-BTC, and for derivatives the exchange fee of VND 2,700 plus VSDC clearing of VND 2,550 per contract. See the regulations page.
